Aphrodite's Organic Café and Pie Shop - Organic and Homey food

8Located in Alma and 4th, 
I walked in to Aphrodite's Organic Cafe and Pie Shop
expecting some good pie 
but to my surprise, 
everyone was enjoying a meal instead of pie 
so, I had to visit this place twice 
to check out their food and pie 

this was their breakfast menu 
 I don't know until what time they serve their brunch menu 
but when I left at 2:30 they were still serving them
 

this is their regular menu 
which contains both food, pie and drinks 

the interrior is very rustic, homey feeling
I think its cute
but some people may find it very disorganized
 

even their ketchup is organic 
which seems to be less sweet than regular ketchup
but they also gave us jar of unrefined sugar 
 

this is Get Your Vote on Frittata
which is described as two egg frittata with sauteed rapini, prosciutto, roasted  eggplant, potato, cherry tomatoes and brie
all the ingredients are wholesome 
and quite visible in the frittata 
You can taste them very well too
However, it tasted bit bland 
due to lack of seasoning overall 
but some ketchup and hot sauce can take care of that right way

It is served their version of fries which is quite tasty 
and very potato-y
the salad is refreshing and the crisp in texture
and I love the dressing they serve though  
it is very light but also creamy
I really can't recall what it tastes like though
multi grain toast is also made in the house as well
and tastes very healty and hearty
 

This is Aphrodite's Own Turkey pot pie 
which is full of local organic turkey and veggies
mostly carrot, peats, onion, celery and green pepper 
served with the same salad as abow
this was quite bland as well
and required some hot sauce to enhance them
it was very hearty but not that great

This is Aphrodite's Stuffed French Toast
which is French toast made with house made multigrain toast 
with layer of chocolate spread and peanut butter 
drizzled with raspberry sauce 
served with whipped cream that is not really made out of cream
and a cups of syrup that never seems to dry out 

I think this tasted best out of the three although frittata came very close
this is not sweet at all 
without the syrup 
the spreads between the sauce is quite thick and it can be bit dry without the syrup

The Cappuccino was quite good 
foam was very heavy and creamy in texture
espresso on bitter side but not very acidic
 

The chai latte was ummm
I dont know how to explain this because 
I do not like chai
but it had very strong taste and scent of chai
that chai lover may enjoy 

Chocolate Peacan Pie + Ice Cream 
not very good
I was disappointed with this
because they were know to me for their great home made pie
and this was not worth $9 to me

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 

THIS changed my mind completey!! 
 

It is their CHOCOLATE BANANA CREAM PIE 
 

with pile of chocolate banana cream 
on top of layer of banana's
and the pie crust
and the cream made with egg whites in special way
was just delicious

Is it worth $9? maybe...
but I am sure I will be craving this quite soon


Overall, Aphrodite's Organic Cafe and pie leaves me undecided if I want to comeback to this place
the food seems bit overpriced 
I think it is due to organic and local produce they use
but I really don't think it is worth it 
most things may taste bland to normal population 
who are used to highly seasoned and flavourful food 
although I felt that I and eating something very healthy and good for my body 
 
Also, there seems to be hits and misses with the pie flavour
so ask for most popular pie!!
I think majority rules when it comes to flavour
