Al & Jan's Fish and Chips - too good to stay hidden

I never thought Surrey would be a place to get good fish & chips
because when I think of fish & chips
I think of some beach side restaurant serving them up 
in little paper trays 

However, Al & Jan's gave me closer option 
to fish and chips that I don't have to drive half an hour for

This place is quite hidden if you try to find it from far away
It is located behind blockbusters next to save on foods in the complex 
so don't panic if you can't find it when you got the right address 
(because I did ....-_-;;) 

They have two menus one for take out order
and one for dine in
so if you want to eat in, 
just gram a seat and empty table 

at corner of every table 
there are basic necessities such as salt and pepper
and two types of vinegar
typical regular white vinegar
and something call fish and chips vinegar
I wish I had tried this because I am quite curious what would be the difference
but I was too caught up with the tartar sauce 

and the real fish and chips necessity 
tartar sauce and ketchup for fish and chips and onion rings
 

This is their coke 
I am not sure it's re-fillable but it was plenty enough for both of us that we did not even care for it
 

The onions rings were cripy and 
it seemed to have same batter as the fish
however, the onions were cut too thin for my liking
making the ring more batter than actual onion itself
 

this was their halibut and chips 
you can choose how many pieces you would like
and you can chose between cod and halibut
halibut is bit more expensive than cod 
 

the size of each piece is quite big and it is about length of my hand or bigger
and I thought I had pretty big hand
for small eaters, single piece will probably knock you out
but for those with big appetite..
I am not so sure..
 

Fries were not very special and seemed to me like they are just there to fulfill the name fish&chips 
However, the Fish was good!!!!!!!!!!!
very tender nicely cooked, still moist 
with the batter crispy and crunch 
And it is not too thick but just the right amount 
to cover and nicely retain the fish.

For a girl who does not eat cooked fish, 
I came a long way,
but I still cannot swallow, very fishy and badly cooked fish 
However, at here, I do not have that problem at all!!

The menu above came about $26 including tax + tip 
I am not sure if it is reasonable price 
but I think it is still decent and worth it!

However, the better deal is 
All you can eat Fish&Chips day on Mondays and Tuesdays 
where you can get all the fish and chips you love for $11.99 
which is a GREAT deal! especially if you are a heavy eater!

I am quite content that I have discovered this place 
and will visit again and again for nice fish and chips 
without all the fuss at the beach
