last guu in vancouver downtown to be posted in my blog
it is not that i do not like this place as much as others
it is just that i would rather go to the guu on thurlow
which is just personal preference
and i like the classic menu they have on thurlow
anyhow
today's special
which varies everyday or every week
depends on what they feel like
drink special
regular menu
the back side is japanese so if you see something you can't read
just flip it over =]
sashimi salad
fresh garden vegetables
with sashimi which changes daily
where ours was tuna two ways -- tataki and raw
plus two types of dressing one creamy and the other being the vinaigrette
everything is very fresh and flavourful
tuna was creamy yet savoury
and difference in texture increased the excitement of the dish
ebi mayo
deep fried temprua prawns with spicy mayo
taste exactly same as other places
i think this is our favourite menu
since we order it every time we go to a guu location
i love the succulent praw with crispy batter
accompanied by sweet and spicy mayo
but careful with the mayo because too much will destroy all other flavour of the food
kimchi udon
spicy cod roe and kimchi udron stir fry
chewy noodles that goes very well with
zeep that comes from the cod roe
and the texture of the kimchi
i personally like this better than the regular yaki udon
it is not spicy at all
so give it a try if you are new to this combination
kaki mayo
many people probably know this as oyster motoyaki
which is oyster baked with mayo and egg yoke
and at guu it is topped cheese
i do not eat cooked oyster
so i have no comment regarding this
but my boyfriend who at this
said it was he has yet to had
and puts all others to shame
so i guess it is pretty good
plain cheese cake
their flavour varies depending on what is available
it is rich and creamy
and i would have to say it is above average
but it is really a tiny piece
about five average bites and it is gone
so i would have to say it is pretty expensive
like other guus'
it has excellent quality and great atmosphere
